Poker Players Robbed at Gun-point

Cards and casino chips

Around 15 people, most of them Norwegians, were robbed at gunpoint as they played poker in Strömstad, Sweden last week.

A gang of four masked men armed with guns forced themselves inside Hogdal Bygdegård farm and robbed the poker team in the early hours of Friday morning, around 1.30am. The poker players were forced down onto the floor by the robbers.

Head of police investigation in Strömstad, Tore Lomgård, told Swedish newspaper Bohusläningen: “It is quite obvious that the criminals knew the poker game was playing for money and they planned to rob it.” Nobody has been arrested in connection to the robbery yet.

Playing poker with money is forbidden in Norway, but allowed in private parties in Sweden. The Norwegian government has proposed allowing poker games in private parties where there is a maximum pot up to 5,000 kroner ($800). The Local reported.
